Safari Itinerary
Explore the Kenyan magic by driving around the country; the tour is designed for the guests who would like to discover the country’s incredible game parks, game reserves, cultural visits, archeological sites at their own pace and road trips from one destination to the other. The tour starts and ends at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, Kenya.
Day 1 & 2: Nairobi, Kenya.
Upon arrival in Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and after clearing with customs and immigration, you will be met by DK Grand Safaris representative who will transfer you to your city hotel for overnight stay. After breakfast the next day, your day begins with safari briefing on all the adventures ahead of you. Today’s tours include city tour, visit to Giraffe centre where you will get up close and feed Rothschild giraffes from an elevated platform, visit David Sheldrick where orphan baby elephants are taken care of before being released back in the wild and Karen Blixen Museum, the house made famous by the movie "Out of Africa" and former home to famous novelist Karen Blixen. Afternoon has been spared for you to relax by the hotel pool, repack for the next day’s adventure or shopping highlight with our motto “look but don’t touch”.
Day 3: Tree lodge, Kenya.
After breakfast the next day, we depart Nairobi and drive to the Aberdare National Park or Mount Kenya National Park arriving at the base hotel in time for lunch. Afternoon at leisure relaxing by the lodge’s balcony watch the animals at the watering point and by the saltlick. At night there is a floodlit waterhole which offers an unforgettable all night viewing of wildlife in their natural habitat.
Day 4 & 5: Samburu Game Reserve, Kenya.
The next day after breakfast, check out and drive north, crossing the Equator from Southern Hemisphere to the Northern Hemisphere. Arrive in Samburu in time for lunch. Your accommodation is along the banks of Uaso Nyiro River famous for it’s big crocodiles. You will have the opportunity to see the unique five, wildlife only found in northern frontier which includes Gerenuk, Grevy’s Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Oryx and Somali Ostrich. Samburu is characterized by vast open landscape, dried river beds and herds of animals drawn to the river and water holes. You will also have an opportunity to visit the Samburu cultural village.
Day 6: Sweetwater’s Game Reserve, Kenya
After two nights of adventure in Samburu, you will drive to the south settling at the camp which is located along the equator line. If weather permits you will get clear pictures of Mount Kenya peaks, the second highest mountain in Africa. One night stay will be enough to give you the opportunity to visit Jane Goodall project which takes care of orphaned chimps in addition to game drives in Sweetwater’s Game Reserve, famous for its high number of both black and white rhinos population in East Africa.
Day 7: Rift valley, Kenya.
Today you drive towards the Great Rift Valley for a memorable one night stay. The park is paradise to thousands of bird life including greater and lesser flamingos. It is also a sanctuary for the endangered Rothschild giraffes and, black and white rhino. On arrival you will check in followed by lunch. You will have sometime to relax before the afternoon game drive. Try to spot the elusive leopard in the yellow barked acacia trees. Dinner and overnight follows.
Day 8 & 9: Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya.
After breakfast you will check out and drive west to the famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. Your dream comes true today, this is the real Africa you imagined of, it’s the home to astonishing number of animals (depending on the season) it’s well known especially for the unique migration of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, topis, elands between Serengeti National Park and Masai Mara Game Reserve. The Reserve offers wonderful scenery of the rugged escarpments, the winding of Mara river, umbrella shaped trees, the beautiful sunset and home to the Maasai people. You also have an optional balloon safari, bush dinners, walking safari, bush walk, bird walk or fishing excursion to Lake Victoria the largest fresh water lake in Africa and source of river Nile.
Day 10: Departure, Kenya
After two nights of adventure and exploring the Masai Mara, you will be driven back to Nairobi; a day room will be waiting for you for refreshment, relaxation, repacking, shopping and farewell dinner before your transfer to the airport for your departure tonight.
