Located on Kenya’s Eastern coastline bordering the Indian Ocean, its original Arabic name was Manbasa. The local people called it “Kisiwa Cha Mvita”, which means “Island of War” due to the many changes in its ownership from Persian, Arab, Portuguese, and also the British, who had much influence on the city’s rich cultures. Today, the city remains one of Africa’s major links to the rest of the world. Built on a 15 sq km island, Mombasa is surrounded by a natural harbor. The mainland coasts north and south of the city boast a proliferation of tourist resorts. Within the city itself, a traveler has numerous opportunities for exploration and discovery. Remnants of the slave trade can still be seen today around the town. Fort Jesus still contains cells where the slaves were held and various artifacts from that era.

Day 2
Beach Excursion
After a leisurely breakfast, Mombasa is a dream beach destination with several optional activities which include; Mombasa Old Town – well known for its ancient buildings, extravagant art designs, and curio shops, it’s well explored by foot because of the narrow streets. Its main inhabitants are mostly of Arab origin whose forefathers once roamed the same streets of the town. Fort Jesus is located just a few steps away from where the town “starts”, thus a complete tour of “Old Town” can be done in a single day. Fort Jesus – is a monumental piece of architecture built in the 16th century by the Portuguese. The interior comprises a prison cell and torture rooms where slaves were kept in captivity before being traded. There are also canon weapons, which were used to defend the fort from invading foreigners as well as rioting locals, which can be seen both inside and outside of the fort. Other attractions include; Haller Park, Mamba Village, Gedi Ruins, Mombasa Tusks etc

Day 3
Beach Life, Fun, and Leisure
This is your day to enjoy and relax at the white sandy beaches of Mombasa. Start the day by walking along the beach line; it’s more of a sightseeing or shell-hunting adventure, and return back to the resort for breakfast. You have the option of exfoliating your skin with white sand therapy as a source of vitamin D, sunbathing at the beach, and relaxing to the sounds of the ocean waves which encourages a healthy sleep pattern, especially when lying under a coconut tree. While you are there; you can meditate by taking a nap, chatting with a friend, sipping a local beer, or trying the cocktail drink of the day from the resort, and find out how amazing relaxing at the beach can be. The beaches are ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and diving and the tide does not significantly fluctuate much. This Island is nothing short of paradise. Buffet lunch will be served at the resort; it’s time to try local food or seafood straight from the ocean. You can try a camel ride along the shoreline in the evenings or go back to the marine national parks and game reserves.

Depart
It’s your last day at the beach destination, leisurely breakfast will be recommended as you watch the sunrise from the Indian Ocean. An optionalshopping tour will be offered which might include shopping. Later after lunch, you will be transferred to the Moi International Airport to connect your afternoon scheduled flight back to Nairobi. Upon arrival at Nairobi International Airport, you will be met by our concierge team who has reserved a table for your farewell dinner depending on your outbound flight timings.
