Victoria Falls

One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls offers a breath-taking view and Zambezi river forms the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The local tribe people call it ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ which means ‘The Smoke that Thunders’. The mist generated from the falls and the thunderous roar can be heard/seen miles away.

The falls dropping distance varies from 90m and 107m into the Zambezi Gorge and on average 20,000 and 700,000 cubic meters of water plummet over the edge every minute down a vertical drop of approximately 100 meters. The length from Zambia to Zimbabwe is approximately 1708 meters.

Lake Manyara National Park Distance from Arusha

By Road: Located southwest of Arusha, Lake Manyara National Park is in a distance of 126 kilometers from Arusha and only takes 1 ½ to 2 hours to reach the entrance gate.

By Air: Charter and scheduled flights are also available from Arusha, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti which land at Manyara Airstrip on the escarpment 10 minutes’ drive from the park.

Lake Manyara National Park Weather and Climate

Lake Manyara is mild and temperate with an altitude range from 954 – 2055 meters; it is rarely hot but is always cold during the evening and morning. Lake Manyara National Park is usually warm and dry interrupted by two rainy seasons during the months of March to May and a shorter season in October and November.

Over 380 bird species have been noted at the park which includes the flamingoes; Africa fish eagle, francolins, whistling ducks, sacred ibis, spoonbill, cape teal, yellow-billed duck, little grebe, saddle-billed storks, marabou stork, cattle egret, goliath herons.
