DAY ONE: EN ROUTE

Depart Home – En route to Kenya arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

DAY TWO: NAIROBI CITY

Welcome to Kenya, you will be met upon arrival at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by our safari representative. Thereafter you will be transferred to your city hotel irrespective of the airline and time of arrival.

DAY THREE: MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE

After breakfast and safari de-brief by our concierge and/or owners of DK Grand Safaris at the city hotel, you will depart by road to Masai Mara which is one of the great wonders of the world in terms of animal migrations, As per Abc news “Good Morning America’s show”. It’s also considered as a “must see” by almost all visitor going on safari. It is on the “to do” list for many because the park is graced by a wide variety of unique and exquisite wildlife and birds. Upon arrival at Masai Mara Game Reserve, you will proceed to your new camp for lunch. Afternoon game viewing has been schedule for you or you might decide to relax at the camp which is stylishly designed to provide the ideal safari experience where comfort, luxury and outstanding personal service combine naturally with the beautiful wilderness.

DAY FOUR & FIVE: MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE

You are entitled to a morning and an afternoon game viewing for the next two days in the magnificent of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The reserve is regarded as the most spectacular wildlife viewing areas in Kenya with over 95 species of mammals and over 400 species of birds. You can decide in one of the two days to book an Optional balloon ride over the plans of the Masai Mara which takes you over the diverse habitats of the Masai Mara Reserve; fly over the great Mara River, swamps, forests, wildlife & the African Savannah. The quiet, relaxing ride allows you to view an amazing assortment of wildlife from a unique bird’s-eye view. Surprise bush champagne breakfast is served upon landing. Afternoon game viewing has been scheduled as well on this day, or you can decide to book an Optional walking tour, viewing the animals on foot and getting closer to nature as you discover more rather than the obvious big five.

DAY SIX: KIGALI CITY – RWANDA

After breakfast at the camp, check out and you will be transferred to Mara Airstrip for the morning scheduled flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi – Wilson Airport, you will be met by our concierge team who will transfer you for lunch and their after to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for an afternoon schedule flight to Kigali Rwanda. Kigali was founded in 1907 as a German settlement and didn’t become the capital until Rwanda’s independence in 1962 when it replaced the colonial seat of power in Butare. Upon arrival you will be transfer to your city hotel. Afternoon at leisure relaxing in the hotel

DAY SEVEN: VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Early morning breakfast will be served at the city hotel, their after depart for Kigali city tour which includes the Kandt museum, old Kigali town, the craft centre which has stalls selling traditional handicrafts, including woodcarvings and woven baskets, the genocide memorial site which was documents in 1994 with mass killings and associated the country’s civil war. You will also discover the rapid development of Kigali city and why Kigali is often lauded as “Africa’s cleanest city” after it banned the use of non-biodegradable plastic in 2008. After lunch, you will depart by road to Ruhengeri driving through numerous hills, ridges and valleys, hence the name of Rwanda “land of a thousand hills”. It’s an approximately 2.5 Hrs drive to Volcanoes National Park HQs. Later check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY EIGHT: VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

After wonderful breakfast served at the lodge, you will be transferred to the ranger’s station for pre Gorilla trekking de-briefs. You will be divided into small groups and transferred to the trekking starting points for each Gorilla family with your picnic lunch. You will trek through the steep, densely forested hills assisted by optional hired porters and guides then finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetations something which is really inspiring and privileged moment. There are a total of 80 gorilla permits available each day with a maximum of eight trekkers visiting any one group. Trekking can take from two to six or more hours if the gorillas move before the park rangers locate them the next morning. After the trek, rejoin your driver guide and transferred back to your lodge for lunch. You will depart from the foothills of the volcanoes and drive to Lake Kivu Serena arriving in the evening. Afternoon at leisure or enjoy any of the optional activities offered by the lodge which includes; .Gisenyi volcanic hot springs 10 minutes drive, a drive to Goma the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, The Rwandan national Bralirwa Brewery, relax by the swimming pool or enjoy water sports at lake Kivu which might including; water rafting, kayaking, wind surfing and/or tennis at the hotel.

DAY NINE: DEPART

After breakfast and check out, you will drive eastwards past coffee, tea and banana plantations on a scenic drive to Kigali Airport hence the original name of Kigali (land of a thousand fertile green hills) you will connect schedule flight to Nairobi – Kenya. Upon arrival at Jomokenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our concierge team who has organized for your farewell meal depending on your outbound departure flight time. Later you will be transferred back to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your international flight back home. (B.D)

DAY TEN: ARRIVE BACK HOME

Mostly probably this is the day you will arrive back home.

Ruhengeri area is located at 2400 meters above sea level and is chilly early morning and evening. While trekking, It can rain unexpectedly, hence waterproof clothing is a good essential including zip lock bags for cameras and film. You will also need boots that can cope with some mud.
