Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, you will check out and depart by road to Amboseli National Park. The park is famous for the large herds of elephants, thanks to Dr. Cynthia Moss born in the USA and moved to Africa in 1968 she has lived and worked for wildlife there ever since. She has concentrated her studies on the distribution, demography, population dynamics, social organization, and behavior of the Amboseli elephants. The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust” and the park has mixed topography of plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bushes, swamps, and marshes which have an endless underground water supply filtered through thousands of feet of volcanic rock from Kilimanjaro’s ice cap. This diversity, along with a long dry season, ensures excellent viewing of the large concentrations of African animals living in their natural habitat.  The size of the park is (392 km2; 151 sq. mi) and extends up to Kenya/Tanzania border. Arrive at the lodge/camp which is strategically located in time for lunch. An afternoon game viewing has been scheduled for you. This diversity, along with a long dry season, ensures excellent viewing of the large concentrations of African animals living in their natural habitat.
