How to sign in for a Safari with us?

Just contact us at info@dkgrandsafrais.com Nairobi offices or swainandassociates@telus.net in North America with the safari package you have identified or you would like it customized. We will confirm for availability with the various accommodation suppliers. Once confirmed, we will email you a registration form and a 30% deposit is paid to confirm the booking.

Do you book international Flights?

Unfortunately we don’t book international flights because different travelers have different preference and expectations. Some would like a stopover either in Europe or Middle East, while others prefer to use their miles which they have accumulated over the years.

What forms of payments do you accept?

Safari payments can be done with bank transfers, Credit cards (Visa, Master card & American Express) though use of credit card will attract a surcharge of 4%. Personal checks can be accepted with prior arrangements.Read More

What Travel documents do I need?

First you must have a valid passport, more than six months before the date of expirer. Canadian and American citizens are required to purchase visas to enter Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zambia. Visas can be purchased through the relevant embassy or high commission prior to travel or on arrival at port of entry of the country you are visiting. Refer to Travel Information for each country.

Should I purchase Trip Insurance required?

We highly recommend your purchase Travel Insurance to cover you in case of eventualities like trip cancellation, interruption and emergency medical needs. It’s a mandatory to have travel insurance when staying at some camps and lodges.

What type of Accommodation should I expect?

All our tour packages includes accommodation in hotels, lodges and camps with a double/twin bed, flashing toilet, shower, towels, power,  mosquito nets where necessary, some have swimming pools while others  provide hairdryers. The lodges and camps are mostly strategically located to the main attraction.

What type of safari vehicle do you use?

We own our own 4×4 Toyota Land cruisers, when you fly especially to the Masai Mara; you are mostly likely to use the camp vehicle where you might share the vehicle with other travelers.

How many people do you take on safari?

We specialize on private customize safari packages, we don’t mix tour group and we take a minimum of two guests, that’s a group and we are ready to go. Most safari operators will cram you into a car with complete strangers something we don’t.

Can I combine our safari package with another extension?

Yes, we offer several extensions which can be combined with your safari. Kindly contact us on suggested extensions

What is the best age for children to go on Safari?

Kindly contact us for guidance and advice though different lodges and camp have different age restrictions based on the activities offered. We do offer nanny services on request at a fee.

Should we get a taxi from the airport to the city hotel?

Our services include all the airport transfers from the main international airports irrespective of the arrival and departures time of your flights. After clearing with customs and immigrations, look for a paging board with your name and the company’s logo. Our airport representative will pick you up upon arrival and transfer you back on the last day.

Will I be able to access the Wi-Fi?

Most of the camps and lodges have tried to have Wi-Fi for the traveler, some have Wi-Fi connection up to the tents/rooms but majority have the Wi-Fi available around the lobby area. Kindly note we cannot guarantee Wi-Fi connection. At times, the connection can be slow and not suitable for heavy load work. Most of the city hotels have free Wi-Fi for the resident traveler.

How can my family get in touch with us while on Safari?

Before you depart for Africa, Kindly leave your family with our contact details. We can always get in touch with you or via your guide at the lodge and/or at the camp where you are staying. Our emergency contact numbers are always available 24/7.

Can we visit a local school or village?

Cultural tourism is part of the attraction, we will organize for a local village or a school where you can meet and interact with the locals. Learn more about their historical back ground and their day to day normal way of life. You can bring along some pens, writing materials, soccer balls + the pump, crayons, etc. Please do not offer candy to children.  If you wish to contribute, we have a project we help the needy girls, you can visit the school near Nairobi. Let your guide know if you would like to same of the local cuisines, he knows where to take you.

How should I pack?

International flight rules and restrictions apply based on your class, Once you get to Nairobi or your destination, We have made special arrangement with the city hotel where you will be staying to keep in store all excess luggage you might not need while on safari. You will access your luggage on the last day after safari. If your package includes flying in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania the weight limit is 15kgs (33lbs) and for all luggage include carry on and camera equipment. Kindly note we have laundry services at all lodges and camps at a small fee. Review the packaging list here.

Diet Request

We do request guests with special dietary requirements to communicate to us at the time of booking their safari. Some of the special requirements may include; Food allergies, vegetarian dishes, gluten free meals among others. This information will be communicated to the various accommodations you are booked in. However, we recommend that you also discuss with the chefs and servers upon arrival to the hotels, lodges or camps.

What happens in case I have to cancel my trip?

In case you have to change or cancel your travel, kindly contact us immediately via an email. After your reservation has been confirmed and deposit paid to various suppliers, changes or cancellation do incur a certain cancellation fee. See our Terms & Conditions for more information.
