You will be picked up after breakfast from your Nairobi city hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and proceed by road to Amboseli National Park which is famous for its large herd of free-range elephants. The park has a mixed topography of plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bushes, swamps, and marshes which have an endless underground water supply filtered through thousands of feet of volcanic rock from Kilimanjaro’s ice cap. This diversity, along with a long dry season, ensures excellent viewing of the large concentrations of African animals and birds living in their natural habitat. The size of the park is approximately (392 km2; 151 sq. mi) and extends up to the Kenya/Tanzania border. In 1974 the park was granted National Park status to protect the core of this scenic ecosystem and in 1991, it was listed on the UNESCO site. Initially, the land of Amboseli was home to the famous Maasai people and their cattle before they were separated. You will arrive at the lodge/camp in time for lunch followed by check-in. An afternoon game viewing has been scheduled for you returning back to the lodge/camp by 06:30 pm, just in time for a hot shower before dinner at the camp or lodge.

Day 2
Amboseli National Park
The next day will be an adventure as you pass through the different terrains of Amboseli National Park, ranging from the seasonal lakes, marshlands, open plains, and lava-strewn thorn bushes, to the acacia woodland. Your will find your private professional driver guide/tour leader is an expert in positioning the safari 4×4 land cruiser for a ‘National Geographic shot’ moment. Don’t miss that unique photo of the male elephants feeding on the acacia tortilis tree top with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background. Your adventure isn’t complete unless you visit one of Kenya’s nomadic and warrior-like people (the Maasai) who have retained much of their traditional ways of life despite continuous pressure from the West. A guided village tour will be organized for you by the son of the chief, the areas of interest will include a visit to his mother’s house, meeting the village medicine man, making fire by rubbing two sticks together, and finally a visit to the market where you will have an opportunity to shop from their handmade crafts items, though this is not mandatory. The day’s activities aren’t over yet, an afternoon game viewing has been scheduled for you. All meals will be served at the camp or lodge.
